Target groups
The subject of this exhibition is of importance to anyone who has a general interest in the Second World War. People are still insufficiently aware of the terrible history of Sinti and Roma. Indeed, the general public should – and should be able to – learn about that history. That is why the tone of the exhibition will need to be geared to that target group. Moreover, the NC has seen that the concept of interactive exhibitions appeals to young people. As teachers, too, have indicated that they both could and would like to do more with the exhibitions, extra attention will need to be given to pupils as a target group. The educational materials that will form the basis for the exhibition should therefore also be accessible and downloadable via the exhibition itself, and an educational programme connected to the exhibition is one of the possible extra products that could be developed.
Organisation
The history of the Sinti and the Roma is a European history. To ensure an effective and widely appreciated exhibition, cooperation on a European level will be necessary. While that itself will be an added value, it also presents a challenge in terms of organisation. The provisional organogram of this project is given here:
Initiators:
- Nine Nooter, Jan van Kooten – National Committee for 4 and 5 May
- Jef Helmer – Responsible for the Requiem for Auschwitz project; Stichting Alfa
