Martin Bárta (baritone)

A guest opera singer of National Theater. Studied at the Pardubice Conservatory under prof. Svatava Šubrtová and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under prof. René Tuček. In 1997, he sealed a contract with State Opera in Prague, where he performed as Valentin (Faust), Papageno (Magicf Flute), Guglielmo (Cosi van Tutte), etc. At the National Theatre’s stage, he regularly performs as Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), Přemysl (Libuše), Sir Cecil (Gloriana), etc. Among his most significant concert parts, we can name solos in Orff’s Carmina Burana, Fauré’s Requiem, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, etc. Abroad, he has performed in Germany, Austria, Japan, USA, South Korea and others, cooperating with well known conductors such as Leopold Hager, Pierre Boulez, Asher Fish, Jiří Bělohlávek. In 2005, Martin Bárta was awarded the prize for the best performance in supporting role at the Opera festival. Since 2006, he has been teaching solo singing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
