Gevorg Hakobjan (tenor)

The lyric tenor Gevorg Hakobjan (1986) started his career as a singer at an early age. In 1999 he took singing classes with Nanny ter Wiel at IVAK. In 2004-2005 he studied with Jan and Gerda van Zelm at the Prins Claus Conservatorium. In 2005-2006 Gevorg took private classes with Jitske Steendam and from 2007 till 2009 he studied with Felix Schoonenboom at the ArtEZ Conservatorium. At the moment he is studying Voice Classical Music with Pierre Mak at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Gevorg Hakobjan is a highly popular soloist with a broad repertoire. With pianist Jan Beukema he performed 'De Graankorrel' for a few years at the Hervormde Kerk in Appingedam. During the Zwart festival he performed the aria of the 'Roasted Swan' from the 'Carmina Burana', conducted by Kees Stolwijk. He also performed Pilate in the St. John’s Passion by Arvo Pärt, conducted by Eugéne van Boheemen. In 2009 he played Luiz in Gilbert & Sullivan’s 'The Gondoliers' and Don Basilio in 'Le Nozze di Figaro', conducted by Stijn Berkouwer.
